Shift kit update!

Has anyone used the Transgo shift kit in a 2nd gen truck. Does it raise line pressure to point a resistor is needed to fool the pressure sensor circuit? How does the kit compare to a full modified VB from a transmission vendor?? Any comments welcome if have used one.

I installed a Transgo kit in my '00 and it came with the resister which I installed per the instructions. I did notice more positive shifts but I don't have any experience with other VB's to help you there.

How difficult would you rate the shift kit install for someone pretty mechanically inclined?

Not real difficult. Read all the instructions carefully. Learn what you can from the forums-there's some good info from a couple of guys on here that helped me. Be clean-really clean! Be very careful when doing the grinding and drilling. Took me about half a day from draining the oil to filling it up and driving. I may be able to find a couple of good links for you if you want them.

I have a transgo installed, I did not do it, it was done when my tranny was done, things I noticed are, no hunting for gears, ie, 1,2,2,1 etc. I can check the oil in park, its susposed to add more line pressure to TC lock up, and it will allow manual control of gears, ie put it in second and it stays there, wont automatically upshift.
I wish I had something to compare to, so I cant say if its better than the other VB's out there or not

no resistor installed on my truck, orginally the kickdown was backed off as the tranny would not upshift when at WOT,
