Rusted trans cooler line advice

I have a '98 24 valve with 47RE trans that has developed a rust hole in the trans cooler line. Being out of work I don't want to put too much money into it for now. I am only towing a 14' fishing boat and want to just plug the lines at the trans. Can anyone advice me on this and tell me what size/type thread-in fittings I would need?

This is the third rust related problem I've had with this truck. First the fuel sending unit rusted out at the inlet/outlet connection - leaking diesel. Then the rear brake lines rusted out... now the trans cooler lines. What next? The body appears like new.

Thanks,

Geoff

Maybe salt area causing rust?

The fittings are standard 1/2 inch od, so compression fittings with ferules will work fine - I used them to install my temp gauge.

if you want to stop the rust crawl under your truck with a tube of grease and a paint brush and coat all the lines with grease! its messy but works!

also DO NOT PLUG off the tranny lines, your just asking for trouble if you do.
