Question Running synthetic

After a couple years of ownership and somewhere between a smattering and a handful of shade tree experience, I want to do my own fluid service. Engine, trans, front and rear diffs. When my truck runs, for the most part its rough service carrying 3500 pounds of truck camper.
Looking for recommendations on oils, weights and types and would like to go synthetic. Anything else I should look for or change?

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
Synthetic if fine especially in your Norther domain. Carefull on trans, both auto and manual are sensetive to correct oil.

+1 seems as good as any,I changed my tranny fluid at about 150k,and it was a little shiney, manual says that theres no need for a change, but I disagree.

The Series 3000 5w-30 is good stuff + its good for 1yr or 25,000k miles if you use a Donaldson ELF or Amsoil EA80 filter.

Personally i change the filter and top it off every six months (and as required) when use the 25k or 1 year schedule.

Also the Universal trans fluid seemed to be alot smoother than my previous services with ATF+4..

Does the trans have a traditional filter? When I drain the trans and plan to go synth, how do I account for the TC?

Capacities?

Yes it has the standard squae-ish filter thats held in by two torx bolts.. Since you cannot drain it 100% (Unless you intend on draining the TC) just let it drain as long as you can and fill it back up..

The stock gasket is a reusable plastic type.. Keep the cork gasket the filter comes with a a just incase in your tool box.

Clean the mating surfaces of your pan and trans as well as the gasket and reinstall makeing sure to torque the nuts down in a criss corss pattern to apply even pressure.

I have reused mine 4 times in 108k miles with no issue.

Need capacities!

Getting ready to pick up fluids and need to make sure I get enough. Front and rear ends, crankcase, trans with and without draining TC?
