Replacing rings
Replacing rings
I will be doing a compression test later tomorrow on my truck along with a blowby test. I was wondering, if one of the cylinders ends up having a bad seal on a ring, can the ring or piston be replaced with the engine in the truck? I don't really have the cash to take it in so I will be doing the repairs myself and keeping the engine in the truck would be nice. I've done rebuilds before however I've always pulled the engines(mostly 350 chevy's). Thanks in advance guys.
You can do it for the first 4- 5 and 6 are more trouble if you try to tilt the engine to get them out.
The oil pan has to be dropped a little bit so you can access the suction tube and remove the bolts, the tube must come out with the oil pan.
If your blowby is getting massively oily at higher boost check the valve shaft seals. They sometimes blow off under high boost and backpressure.
