Hey, that is a great combo for high speed freeway cruising.....I never said it wasn't.....if performance isn't an issue for you, you have the right gears. I can't see your calcs so I don't know how you came to the conclusion that 4.56's will be turning 2200 rpm at 75 mph?? Thedieselkid wants to tow, drag race and do some pulling....he didn't mention that absolute cruising rpm was a priority for the gear change. Do you really believe that considering is application and reasons for the gear swap that he would be better off with 4.10's and 37" tires? I do not and stand by my original conclusion that if performance is a priority and not absolute best cruising rpm, 4.56's and 37's are the better match.

WOW and I looking at something wrong?? The carriers alone are over $1,400!! The gears dont look too bad 450 for both sets depending on brand i go with.

The dana 60 gears need to be reverse cut, correct? If anyone has any input about the carriers I am all ears.

I know I still need my shim/install kit.

Thanks,

Umm....$1400?!?! What carriers are you wanting exactly?? A D70 Detroit should be around $550 - $600. A Powr-Lok should be around $500 and a replacement open case around $125.

The front D60 in a Dodge uses standard rotation gears.

I must be looking at the wrong site. I will look again. CTD What site would you use, or where would you get your parts from?

The rear carrier isn't bad...it is the front one that I am having trouble finding.

Thanks,

Paul

What kind of carrier are you wanting for the front?

Randy's has a good site for locating parts, prices and specs.

I am looking for anything that will fit the 60 and take 32 spline axles...most are taking 30 spline.

So is my only option an air locker or am I totally missing something?

Thank you,

Paul

For a manually selectable locker in the 32 spline flavour, I believe you correct about the ARB being the only option. Since 32 spline is a bit of an oddball spline size for the D60 application, it is sometimes worth calling the vendor to clarify if a particular carrier is offered in 32 spline since it may not always be listed.

Be prepared also to have a shim kit as the factory dana 60 front uses a crush sleeve on the pinion and the majority of aftermarket gear sets do not.I cant remember if they are 30 or 32 spline or not. I know the rearend is though.

Yes, front is 32 spline. There is no D60 front that has 30 spline inners.

Guys you said a limited slip will not work in the D60 front. I will be adding the axle replacement kit from Dynatrac, which elimimates the cad and two piece axles with one axle for the passenger side. The new axle is 35 spline inner, in which new 35 spline spider gears have to be installed. This kit also replaces the drivers side with a 35 spline axle.
I was wanting to use a power-lok in the front with the new axles. Is this possible? Manual hubs will come later. I had a post this week about this with not much response. Don't mean to hi-jack this post, but I need to order parts Monday because the cad does not work anymore. This has given me the start on rebuilding the front axle. Thanks Bunyan

You can but until you get the hubs your driveshaft is going to turn all the time and when you steer it is going to fight the steering wheel alot and wear on the clutches in the diff.I would imagine it would be a pretty ill driving truck on the street.
