On 8-31-04 there was a thread started "Used TracLoc limited slip.....Will it work?" I seem to remember someone saying that the power loc out of a Dana 70 would work in a Dana 80 with some work. I tried to do the search but for some reason I can only get the first page of the post. A friend has a power loc for a Dana 70 so I was looking to see if it would work in my Dana 80

A 70 HD uses a Dana 80 style carrier but uses a 70 sized ring and pinion. This is not a typical 70 carrier. There are about 3 different styles of 70 carrier - none of which interchange.

Bottom line: A 70 powr-lok will not fit an 80 unless it was out of a HD 70 - and these are somewhat rare.
