Really Really bad problems

I have a 2002 Faltbed 3500 2wd 5spd and the guy i live with literaly has the exact same truck except his is a 6speed...but to the problem his truck one day when driving down the road started speeding up he tryd to stop it but the engine was at redline so he killed it well went to restart it, it wouldnt start. so i pulled it home well we got it started and then it idled fine but had no power what so ever couldnt even get into 5th. then he had to take it to work cus thats his only truck and a few days later it will idle but wont rev(you his the throttle and its hesitates then the rpms just flutter) well truth fully i dont remeber all the rest but he has replace the pcm and ecm and had two or three machanics look it over and they have no clue.....any ideas? and we put the computer thats on the drivers side of the truck bolted to the block on my truck that was on his and my truck did the exact same thing and threw the same codes..then put mine back on my truck and its perfect. but it was a new computer....so if theres something that threw that new computer off when we put it on his truck first what could it be?.....we are lost!!!!

Since the ECM seems to be common denominator (same symptoms in two trucks with the same part), I'd be looking at that. It could have the wrong calibrations in it, like for an auto, or different year. I'd take it back and see if they will reflash it for you.

Which quad box do you have? See if you have a 1691 code.
