Rate my new purchase. Did I do well?

Last night I spotted a 97 4wd CC black dually on the side of the road with a For Sale sign. Of course I made the mistake of stopping. To make a long story short It is now in my driveway. It has 170K and a rebuilt tranny a year ago. Not a show truck, but not a dog either. With a bit of work it will be brought back to very good condiion. I ended up paying 7K for it. I think that was a good deal. You agree? It has all new tires. It needs the basics. New Belt, Find source of oil leak (front cover maybe) re-cover drivers seat and it needs a new tailgate. The 4wd shifter boot is missing. Need to find one of those since it creats a lot of cabin noise. I sold my 95 2wd today for $8500 so I have $1500 to spend to shape her up. Also can anyone tell me what tranny is in the truck and what I should watch out for? If there is any $$$ left over what should my first performance mod by other than gauges. Thanks

Ya man thats a hell of a buy! But it depends how much money you have left over for the mods, and depends what your lookin for. Guages, intake, and a straight pipe should start her off pretty good, want more power then look into injectors, fuel pumps, maybe turbos, its all up to you man.
Rock on!
