Puke Bottle/Observation/Rant

Puke bottle removed, nice clean engine now. I noticed the bottle was about 1/6 full: OF CLEAN Oil, looked like oil right out of the container, after 5000 miles on the oil ( burned 1 qt ), I did slightly over fill , just a tad over full, Question Why only clean oil???? Rant: Do you ever think you would see a Jap Truck with a Puke bottle? What werethe engineers thinking... 40K truck , a cummins engine, and a cheap 2 ct little plastic bottle attached, Beam me up scotty...

No bottle here. Just a nub of a hose. And not a drop on the radiator. Just looked today make sure today. I did have some gunked up battery terminals. That's taken care of though.

I've got a solution to that problem... It will cost about $10 bucks to builds it though...

Did mine at No Cost, Left over metal vent tube with a
'U' shapped hose on bottom, found a flex rubber hose from
'? something' and routed through front cross member,
Will see where vapor goes,

Clean Oil in bottle is still a mystery, any guess's...

Be careful about the routing you got...

1. Under heavy braking you can still spill oil out the breather.

2. Under extreme descents you can still spill oil out the breather.
That why I routed over the top of the engine. For both 1 & 2 it keeps the oil from running out the end of the tube under both conditions.

3. If the hose is too long you could freeze it shut. There is water vapor also that comes out of that tube...

That bottle was there to eliminate the "environmental concerns" from a few drops of oil dripping on the ground and making spots on a nice clean driveway or garage floor. There are a lot of things, I'm sure, that were designed to eliminate "problems" that consumers didn't have to face before they owned a truck with a diesel engine like hard starting when cold, fuel gelling, etc.
