PCMS are expensive!
PCMS are expensive!
So my alternator hasn't been workin and I bench tested it...its good...finnally took it some place to get it looked at(Pretty bad a mechanic takin it somewhere, right?). Well they took it off bench tested it and it tested good. So they went ahead and tore into it and replaced the brushes anyways. Put it back on and it still didn't work. Did some trouble shootin and determined the PCM was in fact bad. So that was $172 for nothing, then I had to order a $690 PCM...great deal right? Not! So pretty much a week's pay went to a new PCM, kinda depressing...
WHOA!
Unless you just desperately want PCM control over your Alt, just add an older Chrysler Voltage Regulator. MUCH cheaper, and has been explained in great detail here by user Infidel. Do a search, will save you about 650 bucks!
