PCM Swap?

Shift pattern in my '02 with a 47re is less than desirable for me. 1,2,3,L/U,O/D,re-L/U. From what I've been able to learn, Dodge changed the pattern in '00. The pattern in my old '98 is much more to my liking; 1,2,3,O/D,L/U.

My question is; Would it be possible to put the PCM out of my wrecked '98 into the '02? Physically I know it is possible but, is there too much difference in the surrounding programming to be a straightforward swap?

Any help is much appreciated,
Travis

Two issues I could see would be the mismatch of odometer and VIN number possibly throwing a code or two. Is the 02 still running a Dana rear?
I've got mine somewhat opposite of yours with the 01 ECU and 99 PCM.

That was the other thing that I was thinking, that I would have to get the pcm reflashed to the correct odometer reading. The '02 still has the Dana 70. Yours is almost exactly the same, mine would the '02 ECU and '98.5 PCM

Maybe see if you can find a cooperative dealer that will let you speak with a tech. They should be able to just match the speedo/vin without changing the programming.

There is a dealership that I deal with at work, they're pretty reputable. I just didn't know if they would have that kind of information. According to them these trucks are ancient.

Spoke to one of the old guys the shop at Chrysler. He said; the two, even though they are the same vintage of truck, are completely different internal programming wise. So this is definitely a "no go" on the swap.

I was under the impression that the data changes make it nearly impossible/impractical to move ecm's between years, especially with the '02.

Even my '01.5 won't share some parts with the '02's...

Just from reading past threads on this when my ecm went out in 08....just my .02
