P1693...DTC In ECM...Anyway to clear?
Hello,
I have my XZT+ with Quadzilla currently being looked at/tested in one of their trucks because it was giving me problems. The fellow from Quad asked me if there are any codes on my truck. Went out this morning, put a scanner on it and found 2 codes. The first one was a code in the tranny. My speed sensor is shot so my speedo and odometer aren't working currently. And the other was the P1693 code. The scanner says that the ECM detects a code in the PCM. So is there anyway to clear the code in the PCM? And would that code perhaps mess up my XZT+ in any way?
Thanks!

Not all scanners will retrieve all codes , and not all scanners will clear all codes , so what kind of scanner is it , and who is using it ?
That is a companion code , and should be cleared after repair , did you fix the 1st problem , the non working odometer ?
You can clear a code , but it will come back of you do not fix what the code is for .

The scanner being used is a Snap On Solus Scanner and I was the one running it.
I have not fixed my tranny speed sensor yet, just haven't had time to get the part or replace it yet...so maybe that is just the 1693 code showing the in ECM, telling me that the code for the speed sensor is at fault in the PCM.
I was just curious as to if that companion code could have anything to do with Fuel relation...XZT+. But I'm starting to think that it doesn't.

That means that you are still going to have the other , speed sensor code , with the lack of data from that , and the companion code , the computer should not be expected make the correct decisions , the old computer saying , bad info in , bad info out .
With a good pro scanner , your much better off than the $50 -100 limited tools .

Truck has two main computers, the PCM (Dodge computer) and the ECM (Cummins computer).
P1693 is the code thrown in the ECM when there is another code in the PCM.
It also goes the other way, and will be thrown in the PCM when the ECM has a code the PCM doesn't understand.
You won't be able to clear the P1693 until the other code in the PCM is gone.
Once you fix the speed sensor, the P1693 should go away on it's own.
