Oil Oil Everywhere
keep the info coming folks---i have lots of spare time to play games with these people. Fair is fair, they couldn't do enough to get my repair work until the aftermarket warranty lapsed.
OK guys, heres the scoop.
Just picked the truck up from Cummins service center 1581.53 . New headgasket, head bolts , milled the head (was warped) .
Comment on invoice reads.
Head gasket failure appears to have been caused by improper instalation of previous head. Head did not appear to have been properly prepared when installed. also preivious head bolts had been reused and were improperly torqued.

think if i have to go the legal route will also attempt compensation for my expendatures for lodging and rental truck to get back from arizona and another trip back to arizona to get truck 6 weeks later after they put the new short block in.
OUCH!
I hope D-C steps up and covers their dealer's screw-ups.
How could this be, if it was a factory-assembled engine?
Did the Service 'expert' have any more comments about the "shortblock" coming pre-assembled with a head?

If it was done not properly
(according to Cummins specifications head warped and not repaired, bolts reused and not torqued properly), I still don't see where they'd have a leg to stand on.
A head gasket, properly installed, should last 100,000 miles or more.
I know,.... I'm attempting to use logic........that's not allowed when it comes to business.

We just built on to the house and installed an inside wave pool and hot tub. No water in it yet, still have to mud and finish the greenboard and lay some stone on the floor.

Got any pics of the new carriage you're delivering?
Those things are a work of art.
