How much 2 stroke oil shoud you add per gallon of fuel? I do not remember reading this but I am oretty sure it has been addressed before.

 

consensus is 1 oz per gallon

 

anyone got a measured change in lubricity or is this simply supposition?

 

I usually put about 8oz in a tank full. It makes a marked difference in the injector noise...Much quieter........

there used to be one i had it on my pc... its gone i cleaned aout alot of info i had saved after i sold my common rail a year ago... i know mopar1973man has done alot of research on the subject with a lot of miles to back it up... Interesting site. He thinks things through & seems pretty accurate. You still need to be careful of those that run off at the mouth & only repeat what they've read (who knows where).

 

I never use any. No problems in 153,00+ miles.

 

I also ran it in my 05 for 3 years it was noticably quieter and i gained 1 mpg...Now on the 24 valve, not so much i didnt see any mpg change at all but the engine was a little happier (quieter) I stopped using it simply because no mpg gain for extra cost.I needed the extra money elswhere with the tranny and converter slipping..

I really wish I hadnt deleted that test info it covered all or most of the fuel addatives and showed a break down and which ones worked best to least and the 2 stroke was at the top of the list. And if I recall correctly Marval Mystery oil was 2nd or 3rd on the list.

Junkman I agree with you on people repeating different things read or heard...It always takes me a while to jump on any band wagon I want proof! test research, pictures of injectors after use for a year or more etc.......

 

I suppose if you add lubricant lubricity increases.

 

The question is how much improvement in lubricity. I've read where ULSD is supposed to have additives put in before it gets put into the station tank. Apparently, sometimes it gets enough, sometimes not which results in crappy non-lubricating fuel which damages expensive equipment. There are comparisons between the old diesel that these trucks were meant to run on & ULSD. Some studies conclude that certain additives decrease lubricity. All this to say that you can't just grab some "additive" or oil or grease and As s/u/me that it will help enough to keep the VP going.

It is perfectly ok if you choose to use anything or nothing. It is your truck. Do as you choose. ULSD has caused problems and to question various options is valid.

 

Maybe this`ll help. I use Super Tech, 1 oz per gallon which is a ratio of 1/132. The chart lists 1/200.

 

here is the entire thread, it was done over on the GM forum, I cant say I've seen any mileage increase, but it if you listen closely to your engine (near the VP) it will sound noisy and you can almost "see" the noise, run 2 stroke for 10mins and that noise dissappears

great info guys... although this is not the same list i had saved it is still very close to what i remember except for the opti lube...And for what ever reason i remember the marval oil being rated better but im prolly wrong on that ive slept a few times since 2005
