Angry oil dipstick tube.

While changing the fuel filter on my truck today I must have bumped the dipstick tube enough to where it came out of the block above the oil pan. I can get it almost all the way back in, however it looks like it needs to go in a little more. For the life of me I can't get it to pop back in. Does anyone know any tricks that could help? Doesn't help its 9 degrees and snowing outside...

Are you sure it didn't break? Can you remove it and check the end...

I broke one on a Ford F650 5.9 Cummins. I had to drop the oil pan to push the piece back through.

At first I thought I broke it too, sliding under the truck to look it was in good shape.

It looked like it was maybe never installed all of the way either from the factory, or the previous owner. I had to take some emery cloth and clean it up a bit.
I was able to get it to pop back in this mornin. Vicegrip on the dipstick tube and was able to use a small pry bar to pry against the top of the vice grip off of the bellhousing and it poped right in...

Come to think of it, I had to grind a little off the new one I installed too.
