I am experiencing problems with my trans falling out of gear in 3rd. pretty sure its my sycno's. I want to rebuild this trans on my own. What i would be asking is if anyone knows a greneral price range its going to cost me. I am going to replace all scyno's 3rd gear gaskets and seals. and also does anyone know where I can buy a repair manual on this transmission. Something that will give me a good break down and show me how to disassemble and re assemble the transmission. Thanks

Less than $300 for bearings, seals and synchros.

 

just rebuilt my nv4500 about 2 months ago and i ordered the downloadable manual from standardtransmission before i ordered the parts. I wanted to make sure it was a project we could tackle first. The manual was about $20 and showed every part and gave step by step instructions. Total job ran me close to $900 for new input shaft, mainshaft,bearings,seals,5th gear with nut,and oils

 

I just bought a rebuilt NV4500 for $ 1,200 from a professional rebuilder.

Why even bother doing it myself
