Non-Removable Silencer Ring....

I went to pull the silencer ring out of my '01 CTD and was dissapointed to find that it is apparently not removable. I pulled the one out of my buddy's '98.5 the same day with no problem. Mine even had the snap ring, but the silencer ring is kind of molded into the turbo, if you know what i'm saying. I was just curious what the deal is. thanks

No...I'm very sure that it just can't come out. like i said, i took the one out of my buddies at the same time, so i know what i was looking for. it just looks like the ring is part of the turbo. i could be crazy...i'll have to look again.

thats weird but one thing i thought of is maybe the EGTs got too hot and bonded the ring and the turbo together so maybe that's it. but if it has the snap ring it must have to come out. dont you think. let me know what happens cause that's interesting.

The intake side of the compressor should have never reached a temp high enough to bond the ring, but I don't have an answer to why it looks that way.
