No Cold Start
So...I don't know what to do. I got new batteries and cables put in and it's been working great. This morning was under 40 degrees and it refused to start after a few attempts. After the second attempt to turn it over something starting buzzing loudly(lift pump maybe?) and it didn't stop for about 2 or 3 minutes. Vacuum leak, lift pump going bad, vp44 going out? HELP!

Any codes? It sounds like the grid heater system isnt working.
Does your volt gauge drop to the low normal point when the wait to start light is on? And then does the volt gauge dip while first idling as the grid system cycles on and off?
If the grids arent working then these engines have a real hard time starting in the COLD weather. Cold meaning down around the teens.
But if the grids are working then you'd have to determine whether or not you have a fuel leak which is causing a cold engine starting issue.

Engine light isn't on. I supposed the light could just be out, i'll borrow a friends scanner and check it. Though the grid heater does seem to be working as it should looking at the voltage movement. The "wait to start" light doesn't come on right away but when it does it stays on about 5 or 6 seconds and then usually starts right up. I'm thinking it must be a fuel leak somewhere because of that buzzing noise. Like the pump is running dry maybe? First things first i'm going to get a set of gauges put on to help with the guessing game! And yes SIXSLUG it has a full tank of diesel, lol.

The problem being a fuel leak would be best understood by what you mean "refusing to start". If it truly wont start at all randomly then something is the problem. Understanding what the fuel pressures are always helps though.....

Yesterday I just did a once over on everything and checked my intake heater relay. One of the wires clicked when I pushed on it like it wasn't seated all the way. And since then it's started up instantly...
