No 2nd Gear????

I've seen a few threads here address some of the problems I am having, but I am throwing this before the forum gurus!

Smooth take-off from stop and rpm continue to climb without shifting. I'll let off the pedal and "feather" it into gear. Everything else seems fine after it drops into gear.

Based on threads here, I changed the transmission output shaft speed sensor, apps reset, fresh fuel filter, and checked/sanded ground locations. None of these actions helped. Brought it by a transmission shop today just to say I did, and he stated that second gear is gone and I am shifting into third when I let off the accelerator. He said the band or clip(s) were probably broken. Estimated $1000 for band repair, $2200 for new transmission.

As a side note, my "Air Bag" light/bell alarm comes on during a left turn. It started at the same time the shifting trouble began.

Any words of wisdom?

That has to be the clockspring.
Not related to the shifting problem, but should be looked at.
Might be able to swing replacement under warranty, since it is a safety item.

Pull the pan and inspect the front band strut. If it is broken the band wont apply and there will be no second gear. Its worth a look. It can be repaired without removing the transmission.

Your other problem is most likely not related to the tranny problem. Most likely as said a clock spring.
