Newbie gets truck back!

Well $5800.00 later I got my truck back. I seized a main or two. we'll never know cause I dont have space at my place to tear down the motor, and they needed the core back. I found one with 75000 miles on it and got the history from the owner, so I feel pretty good about the $ hit I took it could have been alot worse. Thanks to all who helped. I have talked with 3 engineers and a handfull of mechs. and they all seem to think it was just a faulty bearing?
G&R deisel in Draper Ut. did the swap for me. Boy this shop is worth a look if you live in Ut. great guys really know their stuff. Im still working on my set up it's not quite right yet. But it did fly over the mnt. pass I seized up on today just fine. Sorry I could'nt be more deffinate on the cause?

The most frequent cause of main seizure is loss of oil volume. These engines do not have a lot of pressure, but volume is critical. Volume losses are almost always due to one or more of the piston cooling jets falling out of the oil manifold in the crankcase. That lets the oil just squirt out in the pan, and results in enough volume loss to fry mains under a heavy load.

As a preventive measure you probably should drop your pan and replace the plastic piston cooling oil nozzles with the later metal versions. Also, use red stud locking LocTite when you install the new metal nozzles.

Have you got a Cummins part # for these metal nozzles?

TIA

You cant do this on a oil change. This is something the shop should have done.
