New guy here

Hello,

Just picked up a 2001 - 2500 w/sixspeed and 4wd. Its the SO pump. This truck has been maintained regularly (know the original owner well) but was used in the fields.

I have a few questions hoping I can get some clarification on.

I know i need a fuel gauge first and foremost but I want a FASS set up. Which particular model do i need? I want one with the filters on it.

Im not new to Cummins. I have a HE351CW I wanna throw on - does it make that big of an improvement on a 24V and what down pipe do I need?

SMARTY - opinoins???

Thanks guys!

Depending on how much power you are gonna want I'd get a lift pump that willl supply a minumum of 15 psi at WOT. The FASS is a good one, so is the air dog.

I'd go with a 4" downpipe min.

Everyone loves the SMARTY, but you are over $1500 at this point. Good choices on the mods. You may also want to do injectors on the 24V.

And, THANKS FOR SERVING!

Sixslug, THANKS for the info - The truck was cheaper than I had planned for so I have money for mods.

I was just gonan get another Diamond eye exhaust system for the 4".

Who is making good injectors for the 24V?

Might wanna double check that. Fairly certain the 6sp was only available on HO trucks in 2001.

Possibly a modification of either trans or vp44 and ecm. Its been done. You can get more fuel out of an SO vp44.

That is a sweet deal. We have a place in Monroe WA called Dynomite Diesel that sells a nice set for a reasonable price w/core. I haven't bought anything from them yet but they are helpful on the phone and have a nice shop.

I have checked it as I had a friend with one also...There are a number of SO six speeds out there.

Just to be certain though - Which letter in the VIN indicates a HO?

8th digit of VIN. 6=SO, 7=HO.
