New Airtex LP-Now fuel leak
New Airtex LP-Now fuel leak
I installed a new Airtex LP about 3 months ago shortly after I purchased this truck. There is a significant fuel smell outside of the truck at shut down. I have checked the injector lines to make sure they weren't loose, but couldn't get to 5,6. However, if those were leaking with the high fuel pressure I think it would be very apparent. I don't recall if the smell was present prior to the LP replacement.
I also developed an oil leak from the rear main area. I have cardboard on the garage floor for this. Well one day I parked on the driveway for a bit to unload some things and sure enough, a nice 6" diameter oil slick. About a week or so later I noticed that the spot was all but gone. Got me thinking that there must be a fuel leak toward the back, mixing and diluting the oil or this spot would not have practically vanished like that.
So when I changed the LP I had to push upward a bit on the return line so the new LP would mount up. I am thinking I must have cracked the seal on that fitting a bit and thus the fuel smell and disappearing oil spots.
Has anyone experienced this issue? Thanks.

That sounds like a good thought on the return line. Can you get to it to check around the fitting easily?
If the oil is disappearing from the floor its probably diesel.
I'd backtrack the install of the Air-tex.
