Need Help, TC lock switch failure
Need Help, TC lock switch failure
My Mystery Switch function, installed for a year with no problems, failed yesterday! (momemtary switch, relay out, no resister)
Yesterday I noticed that the switch was not working, hey no big deal probably a loose wire? Checked everthing, jumper wire connection in relay space tight, metered a good ground (with switch on) at B11 on Powertrain control plug, pulled both connectors on tranny and spray cleaned connecions.
We are 1500 miles into a 2000 mile trip from NC to AZ hauling a 10kLB 5th wheel. Yesterday when I lost the switch lock-up I was not hauling! The truck seams to run ok but I have not pulled the 5th wheel again yet. Seams like shifts are not as quick/tight?? I really "baby" this rig but use the switch to lock/shift to 3rd if I am at ~30+mph and OD if over 45mph and not hauling. When hauling and fairly level I use the switch over 30+ by backing off the throttle a little and hit the switch, I don't use the switch usually for OD under 60mph hauling, same method.
So is it possible my TC Lock Solieoid is bad or very weak? Can I change that easily? Can I meter it out for resistance? Which pins?
Any ideas before I hook up the 5th wheel and go into the desert???????
Any quick help is appreciated!!!!

Updated Info! Tranny temps yesterday were normal for not hauling, level desert 75 degrees outside, reading 150/160 on tranny out line, around town stop lights, less than 180 (normal)!
I ran the codes and got a 622, 743, & 1765!
Then I removed the jumper and reinstalled the relay, and checked the fuse (ok), ran the codes again, got 622, 743, & 1765!
So the prolem is not the mystery switch, 622 comes up I think because I have a EZ-Edge chip, the 743 & 1765 are TC lock 12v relay and control related.
Anyone seen these codes? Is it the solenoid??????? HELP!!!

Heres a Question...my buddy has a 99 1500 with a 46RE trans. Installed the switch and it worked fine but came up with the 12v relay code. I myself have a 3500 with the cummins...
...with the 47RE and it works great for me and doesnt pull any codes. Did it for my buddys truck and it came up with the 12v relay code....can it work on his gasser with the 46RE or will this switch only work with the 47RE
