i have had a p0500 code for a while now off & on for the vss (just have not had time to replace it) but 2 days ago truck died on interstate and I got it fired back up right away but later that night I had a dead pedal right after i started it back up. the next mornig started very hard like my old 12 valve did when it had a fuel leak so I drove to work & it died at every stop sign & was hard to keep running. I started lookin & I do have a leak of some sort looks like fuel but does not smell like fuel. When I bought truck 1 year ago I was told it had the new pump in the tank. But The pump on the motor is still there & turning on so does it have the new pump or was I lied to. Is my lift pump bad or my vp gone south? Or is the p0500 makin it act wierd?

Sorry no P0500 code listed for that year truck. Any other codes? P0216Injection Pump Timing Failure possible?

 

P500 is speed sensor it will trip if you spin the tires . but to me it sounds like your VP is going out did you do the three key on off trick to pull all the codes? also did you try unpluging the milage box to see if its ackting up?

 

yes i did 3 clicks tu pull codes all that shows up is p0500 & 1693 (I think that was it) I did unplug the box did not change anything still runs like krap smoke white smoke at startup cranks forever to get it fired runs rough surges at idle acts like air in system but i cant find a leak any where even though it looks and smells like it is leaking
