My friend has a 01 qc 4x4 auto, with 85000 miles Within the last week or so the truck wanders all over the road. you can also move the wheel 3-5 inches before the truck starts to move now...any ideas would be appreciated

 

Did you check the track bar??? have somebody observe the front end when somebody else (who you trust!!) rock the steering wheel back and forth. I'm sure that the problem would be readily apparent.

Sounds like trac bar or steering box mount. Time for a thorough inspection of tie rod ends, ball joints, etc., etc. That thing sounds dangerous to drive.
