Need final judgement on the tranny issue
I have the common problem of the overdrive hunting for the right gear in a steady cruise between 45 and 55. Acts like it wants to downshift but immediately goes back to OD. I noticed the Emjay Strategy controller article but also noticed it apparently is 2 years old and the company owner seems to have died unfortunately.
What seems to be the best solution? I just dumped $2500 into this truck for to replace the bosch fuel injector and lift pump so I can't go the high dollar but worth it new after market tranny path quite yet. Seems like the root problem may be the Throttle position sensor but does that usually correct this problem? I notice also every once in a while it seems like the TC isn't locking properly when pulling out from a stop. No tranny slip but just not a good solid pull from the tranny. Any help/ recommendation is appreciated.
My last one was a 98 4x4 manual and right about now I miss the P pump fuel injection and the manual 5 speed.

i would try an apps reset...mine started doing it after i had the batteries unhooked for a while. did the reset and aluminum foiled the wire from the alt. that goes down by the battery. and it works like a charm again. been 3 weeks now.
Check out this link. Spend a little bit of time trying this first. Then check every ground on the truck, make sure they are making good metal to metal contact.

I had an intermittent problem with the TC unlocking momentarily. It came and went but never got worse. I finally started getting intermittent check engine lights and apps voltage low codes. Checked the voltage and it was a bit low but I couldn't adjust it. Checked grounds, load checked battery's, tried apps reset etc. Finally couldn't get rid of the light or codes but the problem didn't seem any worse. Ended up changing the apps. Problem solved. Just hauled our fiver accross the continent and back and transmission shifted better than it ever has. I think the problem had been there a long time. Still, try all the other stuff first.
