Who makes mobil 1 filters and are they really any better then a Fleet gaurd or say Wix. I just changed the oil in my truck and I don't mind paying for Mobil 1 oil. I just don't want to pay 10 bucks for a 4 dollar filter.

The last I heard they're made by Champion Laboratories, of course to Mobil's specs with that special synthetic fiber filter media. I used one once on my truck, it happened to be on sale at Autozone. No problems. In fact on analysis, it showed the least percentage of insolubles than any other filter I've used, indicating good filtration. Wear numbers were in line with other samples, so I figure flow with this filter is decent as well.

Champion also is said to make oil filters for K&N, AC Delco, Bosch, STP, and the Sprawl-mart Supertech line.

The Mobil 1 filter is unique with the synthetic filter media and quality construction. I like it. Can't find them on Guam though. I like to use Mobil 1 on my gas engines, Fleetguard on my diesel.

Check out this link for oil filters. Guy that made this site hacked open a lot of filters found found out good and bad info on them.

Anyone know how it compares to the Fleetgaurd Stratapore?
