63,000 miles, Stock '02 HO. 2 previous lift pump replacements. Had a "injection timing code" don't remember what number that was. Above 65 mph it would fall on it's face and decelerate down to 60 mph at which point it would take off again only to fall on it's face over 65 mph. Happened in 5th and 6th at the same mph.

I used Marvel Mystery oil as a lubricity additive, usually 8 oz every other fill up. I've since stopped doing that.

I'd like to give a big thumbs up to Nelson Dodge in Fergus Falls, Mn for looking at the truck right away and fixing it promptly. It failed on the first morning of a trip out west, I was 200 miles from home at the time.

Mine just went at about 83000. It is the original one as far as I know. I've had the truck since 26000.

My uncle lost one at 120,000 , and just lost another at 180,000 .

Same code, "Injection Pump Timing Failure," Now looking to find a good replacement.

His truck is 2000 3500 QC, 4x4, 5 spd, RV275's. That is it!!

Oh Yeah, dealer said lift pump (original) had fine pressure.?!

It has stalled a couple of times. I have lots of fuel pressure generally running around 15 psi. My last fuel pump died and it was to cold to stop and fix at the time. I tried to nurse it (about 5 miles) to a gas station and put in my spare lift pump. I'm at 50000miles and on my third lift pump. General I don't let the fuel pressure drop below 12psi during operation. It doesn't take much to damage the pump.
YES! The P0216 code is *Injection pump timing FAILURE* Meaning your pump is dead! Same code I had at 41,000 miles. it is covered under your warrenty, NO QUESTIONS ASKED! I haven't had any problems with the second pump, yet.

Hey AKDSLDOG, did you get the fix do under warrantee? Dodge told me that in my case. Since I have done all my own oil/filter changes that I would have to pay for the repair. I have lots of invoices and reciept of the fuel/oil filters purchases. I buy then at bulk from cummins. I was told that this isn't good enough, and I had to get a license of the mechanic and record the mileage at time of servicing. I talked dodge into a 50/50 split in the cost of the repairs. Lucky me..

Mike maybe things are different in Canada, but here that is garbage. I would have them in court and win. Oil changes have nothing to do with injection pump failure. You can probably get the pump and change it yourself chaeper than the 50/50 dealer charges.

Mike, sounds like you have visited the same dip dealer I dids. I think we need to go north or south, or east or west to get a decent dealer. I was warned about warranty because I have a 4" exhaust and a Cummins High Idle.

I was told that it was Dodge that told the Airdrie dealership to put it to me. Kinda makes me just go out and buy another dodge truck. This was the first time that my truck was in the dealership since I bought the truck 2yrs ago. Its been a good truck except for three lift pumps, one injection pump, converter and tranny. Most of it has been my fault, so I didn't go the warrantee route. This time I thought, I should try using the warrantee. Its was good for a laugh anyways.

My 02 started spitting and sputtering around 52350....Went to dealer with codes in hand and they promptly replaced both original lift as well as VP-44. Truck came back with a loss of 2-3 mpg...but is just fine overall since then. It now has 94635 on the clock and still ticking like a Timex.....
