Loss of power and high EGT

Hello All,
I was cruising down the freeway and all was fine. Then I hit the accelerator and I heard a pop and a hiss from the engine compartment. Now my truck has now power and the exhaust temp is abnormally high (700 – 800 deg. going 35-40 mph). The faster I go the higher the EGT gets. Also, I think the exhaust is sounding a little different. Any thoughts? Turbo? Head gasket?
