long question about electrical/PCM/ECM

01 3500, 490,000 mi...acts as though it is defueling (on off on off) every few seconds. This started a few months ago and was told it might be a bad PCM. Before I started to remove it, I went by the car wash to clean the area and the truck started running fine...up until a couple of weeks ago. Another washing worked for a couple of days, then not. Tapping on the PCM worked a few times, then not. I tried a used PCM from a wrecking yard, but it made no difference. BTW...I cleaned the connections at the PCM and at the ECM. The FI pump, LP, throttle and cam sensors all less than a year old. Here are the codes it gives on the odometer 0463, 0123, 1694, 1693. I've looked at the code list but I dont know what it takes to fix them. One more possible clue is that the ac clutch quit working the other day. I checked the usual stuff...fuse, relay, low pressure switch. I'm thinking since the computer also controls the ac, it could be a related problem. I haven't checked the whole wiring harness, but I did look at a couple feet close to the PCM since the truck would straighten up when I disturbed that area. If anyone can give me any ideas, I'd sure appreciate it. Otherwise I guess I'll just have to take it to the dealer and let them throw parts at it. I'm sure the first thing they'll say is IP. I haul cars with it and cant afford to fool around with this too long. Any suggestions?...anyone?....anyone?

electrical/PCM/ECM

Please, please, please keep me informed as well! Mine runs defueled just about all the time till recently. I have an electrical arc and it screwsup the voltages and I suspect that it is in the PCM. But not going to waste more money on the incompitence at the cryslurr dollarshops!!! If you can have them put the PEP module from the DRB and it will act as a scope and this could help to find the problem?? Hope this helps. Still, mostly gutless from new.

I would keep looking at your PCM or the wiring around your PCM. These PCM's are known for becoming faulty. Just becareful at the dealer. I am already out $600 for a new PCM that I put in my truck that was faulty from Chrsyler and they are refusing to warrenty the PCM. Let me look up those codes in my chrsyler electrical manual and I will see what I can come up with by the end of today.

Check all your grounds, clean them and remove any paint that is under them. Since you are having problems with the PCM run a separate ground from one of the mounting screws to the battery. Dodge did not ground the PCM very well.

I'm told that 99% of all electrical problems are due to bad grounds.

Good luck

Sorry,

Grounds to check,

Add PCM to battery
battery - post
body behind passenger battery
passenger side engine
Two gray connection behind and side of passenger battery
body in front of driver side battery
driver side engine

I'm sure there are more just can't think of them right now.
