Is lift pump dying?? Help
Is lift pump dying?? Help
Well I did my service today, changed oil, cleaned air filter, and changed fuel filter. Wouldn't start, I couldn't get the lift pump to even cycle. After about five or six trys the lift pump started to cycle, about four or five trys later she fired. Is it just a frek thing or is the lift pump going south. Seems funny that it didn't work and then it did. I don't have any guages I know shame on me :-[ they are on the list but I need a clutch first. What do you guys think. Thanks

A fuel pressure gauge is cheap compared to what a new VP 44 will cost. A bad lift pump can lead to premature death of this very expensive pump. Of course, DC should cover that if it fails due to LP failure, but you're still dead in the water. A new clutch won't do you much good if the motor doesn't run.
Re:Is lift pump dying?? Help
Checked my fuel pressure yesterday and it is negative at idle, that's right it pulled a vacuum. Starts right up though, lift pump does not cycle at all but fires up like always.
I'll call the dealer tommorow and see if they have one, 34k and 37 months old.

Sandman,
Your transfer pump should be covered under warranty. This is the part number for the pump: 5015723AC.
This is the most recent number as of date.
Hope this helps.
