Napa quoted me 200 for the replacement,( 2 year warrenty ? )
Manager told me 1 guy is on his 3rd pump....

But for 160 they have the carter HP ( 4601HP ) 15psi and comes with hose barbs , clamps, mount bracket and some other odds and ends
only problem it needs a regulator that does not come with pump...
seems like a better deal

Above 4601 @ Summit 119; Jegs 122

Yes - Id be interested in a part number also. Does this bolt right up to the stock LP location? Same harness - fuel lines, etc?

Just burned up another Carter.

Thanks scook. I'll give it a try this time around.

Sounds like similar PSI (15-16?)

Similar cost?

Warranty?

Couldnt be much worse than the Carter.

My carters have rarely moved off of 15-16 psi as long as they were operating correctly - regardless of idle vs wot.

I'm always astounded when I run across someone with one of these 2nd gens without a fuel pressure gauge installed. I'm certain I'd be on my 2nd or 3rd injector pump if not for this $30 gauge setup.

In my humble opinion, the carters are an inj.pump failure waiting to happen. I was happy with a frame mounted Holly Blue until fuel spilled on it, attracted dirt & wore out the commutator. Currently I've got the orig. worn out carter mounted near fuel tank, feeding the new design Airtech mounted on the frame in eng. compartment, wired to a toggle switch. 0-15 psi Autometer gauge pegged @idle, runs @14-15PSI@WFO. I use Powerservice religeously. The pump was $180.00 @Carquest, I forget what warr.period was, but I don't loose sleep worrying about the inj. pump going out now. Good luck, dg.

Did you try running any of the three without ever letting the fuel get below 1/2 a tank?--or below 1/4 tank?

My truck very seldom saw less than 1/2 tank. Never less than 1/4. PS-Silver, always. Started 2 stoke when ULSD came out.
Have the Vulcan kit, with the pump by the tank. None of it seems to matter.
I think most people burn these out in 1 year of less.
Sign me up for Class action! The Carters are bad. How many $millions have been spent by us, Dodge, Cummins, as a result of this flawed(being kind)
POS?
On am on pump 3 in 42k. I will switch to the Airtex as soon as I get the pieces from Vulcan.
Hopefully they will be a good solution.

Does he have them ready yet? I have a brand new Airtex just waiting to go in but I can't do it without the fittings. I'm on my last Carter and if this ones goes before I can get the fittings, I'm bitting the bullet and getting Air Dog's little brother (Predator, I think that's what it's called).

My carter lift pump went out in 900 miles. I saved my vp44 thanks to the isspro fpg. Just installed the PASS DDRP-02 and I've got twenty pounds fuel pressure at idle and seventeen WOT with a four year replacement warranty $250. I hope it lasts.

Yawwnnnn....... I changed the original lift pump on my 01 in 07 when the ULSD came out due to seepage at the top cover gasket. Put another stock one on, and put a new gasket on the original to keep it around just in case. Cummins actually had a bullitin about this issue and had the updated part.

I bought 2 Campaign pumps when they first came out, at the Freightliner dealer. They don't sell the Campaign pumps any more.

The Campaign pumps lasted just over a year each and I replaced them with a Walbro 392 mounted by the tank. The Walbro has been a solid performer for about two years now and I hope to get many more years out of it.

My VP44 seems quite content. It has been working well for about six years now.

I bought my Walbro from http://walbrofuelpumps.com/
