Lift Pump Blues

On the way home from work yesterday truck died on me at a stop light. After about 10 secs of cranking she fired back up and went down the road for a mile then started to stumble again but after about 10 secs picked up and ran fine the rest of the 15 min drive home. (Never done this before and just got back from a 1K mile trip without any problems)

So seems to me based on all the LP problems listed here that the LP bug has bitten me. So I guess I just need confirmation from you all that this sounds like LP?

FYI - Fuel filter has less than 4K on it and I have gauges that have been waiting for install, one of which is FP. I will get those in this weekend which will obviously confirm if I have low pressure.

Recommendations for LP source in the Northwest are welcome. I won't let the dealer mess with it so will be doing it myself. A while back I remember someone saying they got a LP at NAPA for somthing like $60. Does someone have a part number for this? Or am I better off finding a Cummins dealer...

Thanks in advance,

Jim

I personaly would go to cummins. Or go to the dealer. The dealer done mine in about 30 min. I would only go to the dealer if it was still under warrentee though. Otherwide there expensive.

Kimrey

Re:Lift Pump Blues

Cummins is the only place i know of that you can get one they run about 160.00 -220.00 from dealer. took me about 1.5 hrs to install along with hi-flo banjo's from wildcat. if its under a 100k then i would have it done at the dealer just to save money.

Re:Lift Pump Blues

Thanks for the replies...I remember someone saying that NAPA had the same pump but the fuel line fittings were not correct so not worth the trouble. I got my gauges mounted in my new Rod's Pods last night and plan to install them on Friday. Should know then if the LP is weak or not.

I may take it to the dealer if I can get them to commit to replacement under warranty. Otherwise will purchase one from Cummins and replace myself. I also have the large banjos to install.

Anyone know a Cummins dealer in the NW or an online source?

Thanks,
Jim
