Lift pum now Inj pump

Well I had lift pump done a year or two ago in my 2001 24v while it was under warranty. Now my Injector pump is bad and first thing my machanic asked me was "hey did you ever have the lift pump changed" He then explained that if the lift pump went and you drove the truck while it was not working porperly it could have damaged the injector pump and it would only be a matter of time before it fails. I guess it failed.
Though I am now out of warranty I have to think that Dodge should hold some responsibility in this. They know there is a potential for this too happpen then they should have replaced them both when the lift pump failed.

Anyone had a similiar situation or any responce at all I would be interested in hearing it.

Please pray for me and to the WARRANTY GODS in hopes that they will still cover this

oh ya

Oh ya forgot to ask. If I do end up having to do this out of pocket what are the suggestions for my new pump. Stock or high pro replacement pump and can anyone suggest a good source for either. Next question to prevent this in the future should I go to something like a F.A.S.S. system or something else. Please give me your opinions and suggestions.

Unhappy

Man, I feel your pain! I have a dead 2000 truck in my garage ( injector pump). I am one year late on the warranty . You might be in if you have less than 100,000 miles.Call the dealer with your vin# to see.I have had fuel issues all year, and I want my old 94 truck back.It had the mechanicial fuel pump! I tried 3 Carter HP pumps and watched them all die. Finally I ordered the FASS pump $389 bucks more than I had.I have great fuel pressure now, but my injector pump is shigats.I ordered a new one from DTR advertiser Performance Diesel Warehouse in PA.Doug is very helpfull in answering all questions. First, install a fuel guage. I hope we can help ya on here. Mark

Good news, I hope you get the pump. I would recommend the FASS without the filter set-up if you are not going to bomb the heck out of it.The Carters are just ticking bombs.

I wish you luck but they are probably gonna stick ya for it! One good thing is that if you have to buy a vp44 be sure you get one from someone that uses the best upgraded electronics and a brand new housing. The rebuilt from dodge is undoubtable the cheapest they can get. The two vendors that come to mind for the good pumps are Industrial Injection and Blue Chip Diesel. As for the lift pump there are a multitude of options. FASS is probably the most recommended but I like the vulcan setup with the pump relocated back by the tank. My reason is that the pump is easy to change and all the parts you need for a repair are available just about anywhere. I carry a spare lift pump and will relocate mine as soon as I'm out of warranty. Then its a 5 or 10 minute change out even on the side of the road.

You could have avoided all this with a $50 fuel pressure guage.

Is youre LP still good? If not, I would take a pass on the intank lift pump the dealers are now installing. There are lots of options - it looks like youve been reading up on them already.
