Leaking tailshaft on transfer case

The last time I serviced my truck I noticed trans fluid dripping from my rear driveshaft where it exits the transfer case. The tailshaft on the transfer case is bolted to the case itself with 4 bolts. How hard would it be to replace the tailshaft seal myself?

Should be easy with no need to unbolt the tail piece. The old seal will pry out then tap the new one in

I replaced mine with very little difficulty. The hardest part was dropping the driveshaft. You will need a way to push the new seal into the tail off the transfer case. I used an old steel wheel as the center was the same size as the seal. Then i put a 2x4 on top of the tailpiece and beat against that with a hammer to seat the seal. I didn't know i would need to that until i had everything apart. It worked out very good. No problems at all. I dont recall losing much if any fluid. I would be prepared just in case. It's a good time to change to some synthetic oil in the t-case while your down there.
