2001 automatic hopps or cuts out at cruisin speed in overdrive at 35-50mph. Runs great when you have the pedal in it, but seems to lag and cut out when you do not have the pedal in it at slower speeds. What would be causing this?

Your lugging the engine, IMO. OD, below 1600 rpm will do what you describe every time!
Lockout OD around town and below 50 mph (for 3.55 rear end).... more power, less smoke, smoother running and no loss of mileage.
With my 35" tires I lock out OD below 60 mph!

could also be convertor locking and unlocking at those speeds....might want to check on dtt site about their noise filter for this problem.my old 02 did this and the filter fixed it right up.............bama

 

Common problem, first clean all battery connections and all ground connections around the truck before you do anything, usually that will fix it.
