Hello everyone,


My budde has a 99 24valve 4x4 auto. This truck is missing something. It is slower than my other friends 6.5!! They are going to check fuel psi and I asked if it was smoking much and they said no. Please give me some ideas to help this guy out.

If you are getting beat by a 6.5 STOP DRIVING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! check air and fuel filters, fuel pressure and cycle the key from run to off 3times and check codes. if the codes and fp are good look at the exhaust, does it hunt for gears?

 

Doesn't work on a 1999, you need to have the codes scanned.
Most major autoparts stores will either scan them or "rent" you a scanner for free.

how is the fuel mileage?

 

Yeah check fuel pressure for bad lift pump, dirty filters, boost leaks, etc... Something is bad wrong if hes getting beat by a 6.5. Heck. I got behind one going as hard as he could the other day, and i was at an honest 1/2 throttle, and he was BARELY pulling away. I could have pushed him along any time i wanted, so something is definatley wrong.
