Im pretty sure you can buy it right here from the DTR store. Give Lary a call or PM.

If not, you can get everything you need from Cummins. or like already mentioned www.genosgarage.com - lots of options here.

I had to do a front crank seal 2-3 weeks back. I just got the KDP kit from Geno's and did it while I was in there.

Even for the 2002 24 valves is it really something that needs to be addressed?

Ive only seen something about this twice for the 24valves

Yes it does, IF you have the early cover. Only way to tell is pull it apart, AFAIK.

True, but if yours happens to be one of them with the issue it can be real painful. $$$$

Yes it is something you should address even in a 2002. I tabbed my KDP recently. When i took the cover off the engine I found out my truck did not have the updated timing case! My pin hadn't moved but I didn't want to take any chances so I installed the tab over it. I used the genos kit.

Here's my thread on the subject...

From what I've read and have been told by others, cummins made a new gear housing that had a stepped hole so the KDP couldn't work it's way out. These were installed on 24v trucks but not every truck got the updated case.

and you have to take the front cover off to check? or can you check through the blow-by hole?

I took my front cover off, i'm sure you could go though the blowby hole with a bore-o-scope. I found loose bolts on the inside of my timing case, so I was glad I took the cover off. It's cheap insurance IMHO.

Like this? ALL CTD need the covers pulled and have the bolts lock tighted in!
I have seen 2 covers blown out by bolts now 1 12v and 1 24v
