Rammtuf I am not sure about the common rails. Perhaps someone else can chime in.

Dr.Evil, that really sucks, If you want one you can get one. like I said just call around, even paying shipping is cheaper than paying the full 200 they want to jam us up for.

Exclamation Here's the Scoop

I stopped by CumminsN Power on Hwy 100 and the I94 just south of Milwaukee, WI. Really great parts department! They gave me the scoop. They say that we can get the new pump, just not for the price of the 4090046. The 4090046 is just as it was stated before, for recalls, in "Cummins" powered units. They can't do warranty on the Dodge stuff, it has to go through DC. Its not viewed by Cummins as their powerplant. DC would have to perform this "recall" if they were do ever do it. They did tell me that the part number of the 24 valve lift pump has changed, and it is 4932707, $161 . It supercedes the old part number.

So, if Cummins has changed the part, DC needs to recognize and do something before they get slapped with a lawsuit by some party.

Colekicker you are exactly right as far as I have heard about this whole program. It is a recall program by Cummins for their engines in specific chassis's, our engines do not fall under the recall so we can not get ours done for free under the federaly mandated recall program. What we can do, totally legally, is buy the pump kit for whatever price a Cummins parts dept. wants to sell it to you for. Some will sell it for the Cummins set price of 65.00+/- some will not. It is a company set price not a law. So do not feel like you are doing anything illegal or wrong by calling around till you find one who will give it to you for the $65 price.

Before I would spend $200 on a stock lift pump (way up where I live they are closer to $300)...I would go with a better option. A stock lp is ok if you can get it cheap, like in this kit. Guys, if you cant locate this pump, you can get one from these guys:

$145

Dr.Evil I agree the best oart of this kit is its price, if you can't get it got $65 I proabably isn't worth it. Unless it proves long term to really be an improved version.

Breakaway I got mine from the Roanoke dealer.

Thumbs up

Just bought 3 from the Houston Cummins Plains disti, no questions, no interrrogation, no errors.
Might call them, see if they ship. $65+ tax.
I asked the Cummons Service about Jac brake installation. They get $650 for that service. Seems kind of pricey. Anyone else get their installed at Cummins or Dodge?

The new LP looks exactly the same as the old LP. There is nothing to see unless you want to see a picture of a pressure switch which they supply in the kit. If the pump has been upgraded, and I have yet to be convinced that it has been, the changes are all inside the pump.

We have heard that the intake pump conversions have left fuel pressure lacking for some higher end trucks. FOR the school bus conversions.....i have not heard anything on that. Seems like a solid cheap option for a Stock to mild build truck......is it going to be problimatic like the stock carter though??

I have had this pump from Cummins on my truck for about a month now,so far it has run well, cannot pull pressure below 14psi. Of course it is much too early to conclude that the pump is a reliable one. One conclusion that I have come to is that the CarterP4601HP is not good for the Cummins application, the one in my signature only lasted four months before the pressure started dropping.
