Intake Plenum Gasket??

Hello,

I've been searching around and I had found a couple posts about fellas that changed out their intake gaskets. The Gasket I am looking for is the gasket that goes between the intake manifold "cover" and the manifold itself. Is this the "Intake Plenum Gasket", or is there another name for it?

Also, do I have to go to the dealer/Cummins for this gasket? Or can I order it through my Napa?

Here is a pic of where it blew. It's mainly my fault since when we removed my fuel filter housing during the AirDog install. I didn't think of putting something between the two bolts like a spacer, or running a die down the 2 bolts so that they would clamp properly....oops

Best bet is to get it from Cummins or a big truck dealer, like Freightliner. Not sure if Napa would carry it. Part # is 3938152.

Do you fellas remember how much the gasket cost? I'm assuming not too much money, but you never know. I'll try my Local Dodge Dealer and see if they have any in stock and for how much. Might be cheaper to go through a Heavy Truck Shop instead....

Thanks!

ok I found the gaskets, cummins part# 3969988, this gasket is for the air heater block and for the air horn. The plenum gasket cummins part # 3947530and this gasket is from an 03 and up, the good thing is that the gasket is metal. Every thining went together good and I do not have any more boost leaks, I was loosing about 5 lbs of boost from the leak. I just had the same problems and i found these gaskets

Thanks for the numbers, I'll have to keep them in mind for when I want to upgrade gaskets. I already have a regular 24 Valve 2nd Gen Gasket coming for $15. I'll use it until it blows or I feel like changing it, LOL.

I got a felpro gasket set from the local parts house. It was only like 15 bucks. And i did the same thing you did. lol

I took the bolts and put some washers underneath it and tightened it back. No problems and it's been over 1 year.

Well I did the Gaskete R&R this evening which went pretty well and straight forward. Took longer though because I was really cleaning/somewhat polishing the top of the intake manifold cover, LOL. I was going to try and get it really shiny but I didn't have any compound with me. Also sucked because I had everything back together and on the truck...then I realized I forgot to tighten to Injector lines at the VP..silly me. After that I changed out my thermostat, let the truck high idle for awhile then I came home.

Can def notice power increase and noise difference with that gasket replaced. I'll get a picture of the Spacer I made up do go under those 2 bolts.

I also have a question that I forgot to ask earlier;

Anyone now what the torque specs are for the intake cover bolts? Or did you just tighten them down nice and heavily snug?

Thanks!
