Installing Fluidamper 2002 ????

Ready to install Fluidamper, Have the new bolts.
Questions, Factory Dampner not Keyed Y/N ?

If I want to reintall Factory Dampner, it is position sensitive. Y/N

Fluid Dampner Is not position sensitive Y/N

Do I need to take the fan or the Fan shroud off to install Dampner?

Any other info/Hints ??
Thanks in advance....

Just remove the belt, un bolt the factory dampner, and bolt on the Fluidamper.

There are no keys, or anything like that.

Go in from below. The shroud doesn't need to come off.

It takes longer to get it out of the box and the belt off than to install it!!!

No, the damper isn't keyed since the engine, being a straight 6, is naturally balanced. The damper does not have to be wieghted to counteract any engine forces (since the engine is balanced). Therefore, the damper is uniformely wieghted throughout its circumference. No special keying or positioning is nessescary.

You're welcome.

supposed to make the engine smoother, with a rattly 6 speed,I am hoping
to quit it down and maybe extend it's life...

There add says some minor torque and HP gains, but i'm some what skeptical on this.

OK, Fluidamper is on Kinda.

Started this morning at 8:30, Damper off, Fluid Damper on and bolts torque to 30lb as per Instructions,

I'm thinking , " this is to easy """ something has to go wrong,

YUP, Problem..

Fluid damper instructions : Use New Bolts, Torque to 30lbft, than
torque each bolt an additional 60 degrees.....

Well I got a Std shift, SO: I don't need no barring tool to hold engine, just put it in gear and crank away,

1st: I was surprised how far I had to wind up the slack,
next: got 30 degrees of bolt torque and engine turned, kept turning...
I guess clutch is slipping as I could see drive shaft not moving....

So got all the bolts as tight as I could
( 165 lb me, and 18 inch breaker bar, and lots of grunt, about 30 degrees
is best I can get on bolts before engine turns )

Called Fluidamper, Asked why Dodge book is 92 lbft torque and there spec is 60 degrees bolt travel ( that's a lot of torque ).
They said, because some have rattled off the Damper ( rpm&HP )
they have it spec'd that way, Explained my situation, they , of coarse ,
kept there position that the 60 degrees is required.. with a little uuum
maybe keep checking the bolts, UUUM....

I asked that now that I have torqued the bolts, Do I need new one's as they reccomend in there installation, Ans: Yes ( ? another 24 US Bucks
for new bolts )

SO: even the simple add on's are not as simple as first thought:

OK, OK, How does it run ?????

Well; before an after assesment is very hard , especially when you can not switch back and forth easily, and you have 450 us invested, certainly want to be impressed.

OK OK: Idles a little smoother, quitter:, less rattle when starting in 2nd gear.
Really VERY little rattle at low RPM, (800 and accelerating( lugging )) , again hardly any rattle, really have to listen for it.. No vibs in stick shift either.
I tryed 5th gear from 900 rpm with some hefty throttle, smooth, just a brief bit of rattle...
Bottom line , seems to make a difference,, more driving in order...
AND, I need to load up the TC, and really test it, that will determine if it
was worth the money/trouble... Should be loaded and ready for maine
in 2 weeks, follow up report before I leave...

As far as the bolt torque, Gonna drive it like it is, and keep checking the torque
( in gear crank till clutch slips )
If I can get a Barring tool I will consider new bolts and 60 degrees of torque,,

OK, that's it , more driving, will report back...
