Injector Tapping

Have had a tapping noise on my truck for a couple of weeks now. it is hard to hear or non existant at idle you can hear it good between 1500-2000 RPM.

Not having spare injectors to exchange with, I wanted to know if there was any other way I could tell if this was the problem to move on to other trouble shooting. Also are there any tech articles instructing how to replace the injectors on the 24V engines(havent seen any).

I was convinced it was a rod knocking the other night and now I'm not sure. I reved it up to 2600 2800 a couple of times(havent had over 2k since it started until then) and it got worse and I could hear it at idle and only ran it for 2-3 min so I walked away sad . Went and started it after lunch today and no more noise at idle go figure.

I have kept it parked other to load it on a trailer and trouble shoot, soon after it started.

Thanks for any advise

it could possibly be your injection pump. you could also try breaking each injector line loose, one at a time and see if it makes any difference, if it does, thats the injector having issues. my injection pump just sent pieces of itself into my injectors and with the sound it made, i thought for sure i melted a piston. good luck
