I can't figure it out!
OK guys,
2002 CTD with 47re. No power additions, just guages, BHAF and a straight pipe.
Here's the problem:
Tranny shifts great- smooth, clean and crisp. The trouble is on the downshift. When coming to a stop around 20-22 mph, I am getting a clunk on the downshift. I have replaced the u-joints, greased the slip joint on my driveshaft, adjusted TV cable and even put a 1/2" spacer in the benter support bearing thinking it may have been pinion angle. The clunk occurs on what I assume to be the 3-2 downshift. Tranny was rebuilt at 130,000 and has done it every since. Truck DOES NOT have a shift kit and DOES have stock TC. (213,450 miles on the clock now/ tranny fluid and filter are changed every 15,000)
I know this isn't normal, and it's driving me nuts!
Any help or insight is greatly appreciated....

after the rebuild has the VERY light throttle up shifts been higher than before ? the rebuilder could have raised the base line throttle pressure at the stop on the valve body.you should see almost no throttle up shifts at 5 - 8 mph for 1-2 and the 2-3 around 12 -15 mph.
bill50cal, thanks for the reply. I do notice that the 1-2 upshift occurs rather late (around 13mph). The 2-3 shift happens around 23-25 mph. Like I stated previously, I have adjusted the TV cable several times to control rotation of the throttle valve. It reacts as it should, delaying or speeding the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts, (which is correct considering the PCM controls 3-4 and overdrive lockup), but when I play with it either increasing or decresing tension, it seems to wanna shuttle shift , so I set it back dead on each time.
Could too high of line pressure at the VB cause such scenarios?
TIA

without putting a pressure gauge on it you just don't know what the shop changed. the main line pressure has an adjustment on it along with a stop for the throttle throttle valve for base line throttle pressure. from what you state your light throttle up shifts happen at, they have moved the throttle valve stop on the valvebody IE to late of up shifts at light throttle and the clunk on down shifts. as a side note main line will also increase with more throttle pressure. as for the shuttle shift once again no telling what the shop did to the valve body.
