I am gonna drop the pan in my 99 CTD in order to replace the filter and change the fluid. How many quarts go in there once I grain it all the way. Also what kind of fluid is best to use for this truck?

Should be somewhere around 10-12 quarts. I would add about eight to begin with, run it through the gears, add until it reads correctly on the dip stick. Make sure you check it in neutral. Use Mopar or whatever brand+3.
