Yes, that is why a fuel pressure guage is manditory. The IP can suck just enough fuel to keep running, but not enough fuel to cool and lubricate it. Excess fuel is returned to the tank after it passes through the IP. I think you have an IP on the way out also, but if its running just replace the LP and keep on trucking.

I had a few thousand miles with no lift pump and still got another 10 or so thousand out of the Injector after that. The only thing that I noticed aside from no fuel pressure on the guage was a lack of power pulling. Still pulled 10,000 pound plus trailers just slow doing it.

Well i got the truck back today, The new lift pump is idling at 14, 70 mph at 12 and wot about 11. Hope this one last a long time. The good part about the whole deal is the guy only charged me 60 dollars. I don't think i would even fool with it for 60 dollars. All together it cost me about 230 dollars. Not bad. Thanks for all the replies, now i can think about the fass system later on hopefully before this one dies.

i know thats from a while ago, but if it was an F650 don't feel bad. Ford puts the Cummins in the 650's. I guess the stroker's can't handle it. I use that line when I'm having to argue with somebody over the stroker's.

Best bet right now with a new LP is to get the Vulcan big line kit, and install a pusher pump in line with the LP. I just did it today, and I cannot pull the fuel pressure below 15psi WOT. I am happy with the setup, and it costs a whole lot less than the FASS.

lift pump

Yes, it WILL pull fuel through a dead lift pump.....and kill itself in the process.
I know it sounds screwy, but that's the way the system works.

I am about to do a Vulcan big line kit/relocate in the next few months and
will just go ahead and put a new pump on mine then. I feel like my lp is living
on borrowed time as it is with 54k miles on the truck.

Makes you want to choke the dodge boys, don't it?

That might be your problem. Try diesel

Sorry for the pedantry.

How Embarassing

Yes! both of them pulls fuel and when the lift pump goes out the
injection pump keeps pulling fuel and you are stressing the injection
pump now and it goes out. Sounds like you have another problem
besides lift pump.
