HO Engine ?
HO Engine ?
RE: 2001 HO w/ 6 speed
What are the differences between the HO and the regular diesel engine?
Torque, HP, mechanical, strength?
Anything in particular to be aware of when looking to purchase a HO Ram?

Forgot to mention, no matter what engine, have the fuel pressure looked at. Look at it at idle and during a wide open throttle (preferrably under load but that may not be possible if the gauge is not in the cab). At WOT, the pressure should not drop below about 7 psi (someone else please correct this number if wrong). If it goes to 0, the truck has a bad lift pump. If it is less than 7psi, the lift pump is dying.

The HO has a higher-pressure injection pump, different injectors, ECM program and a little more compression , that's about it I think. Can't remember the HP #'s One good thing about the HO is it comes with the 6-speed, and the SO comes with the weaker 5-speed. Nothing really to look for, except the dreaded lift pump issue.
