truck was running great down the road when check engine light came on and tach went to 0....new crank position, cleared codes, started right up and drove smooth until wide open throttle, then check engine light, no tach, and runs like poo....FYI have not pulled the 2nd sensor ,but the 1st had the end worn off... its a 99 .. thanks a lot......love this site..

I have a 99 that just did the same thing, I replaced it and it works great, but the end was not worn out; you are saying that the plastic wore off the sensor? Maybe the connection came loose when installing the new one;I would hate to have to remove the starter again.

the tone ring might have come loose....hope not.if so u got probs...the oring on the sensor also acts as a spacer, did the old sensor have it intact? there is a reason for torqueing these sensors, so u dont push them in too far.

I would think if you pull the sensor again and the end is worn/damaged then the tone ring is loose,
