Gen2 vs. Gen3

How does it stack up? I've heard (from the Gen3 board) that the Gen3 rides better, is more refined... What do you guys think of your Gen2's. Especially would like to hear from those that have had both.

Thanks

Lots of differences. I think if I had to have a daily driver I would go 3G, But I don't, I have a truck that I like to tinker with, Mechanical 98 12 Valve, I like the fact that it cranks in less than 1 sec (unlike my 05), has a certain sound that I like most of the time, and most importantly my truck payment is a lot better with the 98. But creature comfort does go to the 3G's

3g's do ride a lot better. mine compared to my dad's rides like a 2 horse wagon. i don't like the 17" wheels cause tires are so much higher for them, but that doesn't bother some people. if you want a quiet interior you want the 3g, the 2g is a lot louder in cab than the 3g. that's just a couple of the differences that come into my mind.

Well, I have both an '05 and an '02. While it is true that the 3rd Gen is quieter in the cab, I feel that the ride is just as good in the '02 with the DSS and track bar kit as well as the bilstein shocks. I plan on soundproofing the cab this summer and am willing to bet that it will be almost as quiet as the 3rd Gen is. I have to say that I prefer driving the '02 any day and am actually thinking of getting rid of the '05 for an '01 or '02.

well between me and my brothers truck his 2001 is alot funner to drive. I like hearing that inline 6 purr. As for room and comfort my 05 has him beat by far. seats are more comfortable, better sound system, etc. It's just a thing where Dodge seen some improvements and did them. Over all they are both still real good trucks. But performance wise I think it's a little easier to mess with the 2nd gens well alot easier and cheaper.
