fuel pressure problem
fuel pressure problem
hello. i've got a 99 ctd 4x4 and i installed an isspro boost guage to monitor the fuel psi .any way to get to the point the family and i were out today and the fp started bouncing around.going down the road it stays at 10 or 11 psi.at an idle it may stay at around 14 and then drop to 5, but if i goose the go pedal it will jump back to normal.it may stay up then or drop back to 5, or it may bounce around.if i shut it down and bump the key it will start to raise up like it should then it falls off some and you can hear the lp surging.i' m kinda at a loss on what it is. i took the pigtail of the pump and the wires weren't burnt and the pins in the connectors looked good.just wandering if my lp is going south and the best alternitive to the factory vp eater is.by the way my truck is stock thanks in advance to all responces
Stock pumps will do that when they start to fail. I went through several of them and had new ones do that within a few thousand miles. If you can afford it I'd suggest going to a different lift pump setup. I'm very happy with Walbro. Read the posts on lift pumps and you can decide what is best for you. Good luck
