fuel pressure figures

Where do the minimum desired fuel pressure figures I see come from? It seems like most accept 14-15 at idle, 11-12 crusie, and 9-10 for WOT, or something similar. I hear that dodge dealers do a volume test. Who came up with this pressure figures?

As long as it's between 5 and 15, you're fine.

Over 15 is not ideal, but lots have run up to 20 safely. The VP doesn't like high pressures- Bosch has it set to bypass fuel at 14 psi at the inlet.

It takes at least 5psi to fill the plungers inside.

So it's like the three bears-- you don't want too much or too little. Need "just right."

HERE is the volume test. Prior to this, Dodge used a pressure test, but as of this 5 minutes, I can't find the pressure acceptance/rejection criteria. Maybe someone else still has it.....
